JULY 11, 2023 (Charleston, SC) - In another showing of strong local support for the campaign,
Charleston Mayoral Candidate William Cogswell posted over $305,000 this quarter. Supporters of William Cogswell’s campaign for Charleston Mayor have contributed over $154,000 this quarter, with the candidate adding $150,000 of his own money to the campaign - proving his commitment to the race. Incumbent John Tecklenburg only raised $126,000, with other candidates lagging behind.
“These numbers prove my supporters and myself mean business. I have said since I entered this race our city’s future is at stake with this election. I’m overwhelmed by the support we have received,” said Cogswell.
At the time of his candidacy announcement in October 2022, Cogswell received bipartisan support through endorsements from State Representative Wendell Gilliard (D) and former U.S. District Attorney and former House Representative Peter McCoy (R). Cogswell has spent the last nine months on the campaign trail, meeting with hundreds of concerned citizens in all parts of the city.
The message from citizens has remained consistent and clear - change and leadership are needed at the city’s top office.
